Our Wedding Party! (Bride's Side)

The Maid of Honour and the bride came to know one another from their Co-op Japan jobs at NTT in 2003. During their 7 months in Japan, they became inseparable, traveled throughout Japan and experienced the time of their lives. Following Japan, they continued on to travel and study in Europe and climb Machu Picchu! Together they have laughed, cried, shopped, ate and most importantly, matured. Their dynamic friendship continues to grow in their home town of Vancouver where the Maid of Honor will now stand by the Bride's side as she takes the next big step.

The two Bridesmaids are childhood best friends of the bride. From grade 3 to 12, the bride was next door neighbours with Heslie. These two creative young minds created their own world of amusement parks, Glitter Pencil and Styrofoam pin business ventures. Jamie and the bride charged through their teenage years as mall rats and participating in all night phone calls. Though three of them have now grown out of their imaginary and adolescent worlds, they will always bond over past and present silly adventures.

And now presenting the Maid of Honour and Bridesmaids...

Silvia Yuen (Maid of Honour)

How do you know the Bride and/or Groom:
I know the bride thru Henry... No no, before that, I was in
the same tutorial of a business class with Fong Yee. Then I bumped into her at a Church event. She had her curly hair at that time. In Spring 2003, we were introduced by Henry because we were both going to Japan for internship that year. We had our dinner at Hapa and we were already talking a lot at that time, both getting very excited about going to Japan. We then went to University of Victoria for the immersion program for a couple of weeks and we stayed in the same apartment. In Japan, we both worked for the same company so we stayed in the same dorm building. I know Arthur thru Fong Yee. We also went to Europe and Peru together!

Most memorable moment with Bride and/or Groom:

With the Bride: Does it need to be the 'most'? I have so many good ones that I want to say!! I guess the most enjoyable moment with Fong Yee is simply having a drink with her and chatting for couple hours. But there are many other great memories too: in Japan, we often went to the convenience store outside of our dorm to look for desserts and magazines, we got crazy when we went shopping, we went for a few weekend trips where we went hiking, camping, hotspring, shopping, finding good food, tasting the local Ramens...... there are also so much to say about the Europe trip and the exchange in Copenhagen, and also in Vancouver...

Quote or words of wisdom for the bride and groom:

Love is not finding the perfect person, but finding the imperfect person perfect.
I think this applies to eve
ryone, not just you two. I hope that you can encourage, support, appreciate each other as you two embark on this new journey together.

If you can go anywhere in the world / do anything with the bride AND groom (note the AND), where and what would it be?
I went traveling with you two for a few times for vacation but never been to a country to do volunteer work. That will be meaningful and a good lesson for all of us. :)

How do you know the Bride and/or Groom:

Fong Yee and I were next door neighbours since grade 3. We also went to the same elementary and high school. Now she comes to visit Toronto every other week! That’s over 18 years we’ve known each other!

Most memorable moment with Bride and/or Groom:

I would have to say when Fong and I went into business together selling glitter pencils. 100% profit business since our parents paid for the supplies! We went insolvent though on account of stolen inventory. Second to that would be when we tried to create a mock “PNE” during the summer with our skateboards (before they even became popular!) and skipping ropes. Don’t ask how that worked.

Quote or words of wisdom for the bride and groom:

Probably best not to heed “words of wisdom” from non-committal friends such as myself. But if you choose otherwise, my two cents of advice for any relationship is as follows: cherish the time you have together but cherish even more the time that you have to spend to yourself.

If you were to play badminton against the groom, who would win and what would be the score? If you were to play badminton against the bride, who would win and what would be the score?

Hands down bride and/or groom --- total shut-out. I have no hand-eye coordination skills. But I might beat you in a fitness test. So how about that…ha!

How do you know the Bride and/or Groom:

Fonger: RCBMC Bible Summer camp 1993

Artie: Fonger's bday house party 2000

Most memorable moment with Bride and/or Groom:

Bride: Road Trip to LA May 2005

why???

* Taking a bus instead of a taxi at 11pm THEN missing the last connecting bus that was suppose to take us back to our hotel, which left us stranded in the most dangerous part of LA!!

* Car accidentally locked in parkade overnight, hiking from westside Portland (parkade) to eastside Portland (motel) in the middle of the night (still felt safer than missing the bus in LA)
* Sleeping at 10pm ALMOST every night
* Last but not least, going to 5 different banana republic stores on a 10 day road trip

It was a bittersweet experience, one (in hindsight) i don't regret.

Bride&Groom: Whistler

2005

It was my first trip with Artie, so I studied him.

* Not really into his music (had to listen to it on the car ride up)
* DON'T challenge him at drinking; DO challenge him at drinking GAMES
* He never picks DARE, his TRUTH is kinda boring, therefore...don't play that game with him
* He's perfect for Fonger

Hobbies or favourite past time or things to do:

* I'm a computer addict. I know absolutely nothing about them, i just like using them.
* TV, Movies & Anime are my regular rituals ie: Heroes, Naruto
* I can be labeled as a gamer sometimes ie: All WII games, FF series, Diablo 1&2, Star/Warcraft series, Zelda series, Chrono Trigger/Cross, CONTRA is still the BEST!!!!
* I like to invent drinking games, and I can/will turn ANY game into a drinking game. I'm not an alcoholic; I can't be since I always pass out before I have my second drink. I'm known as the One Shot Wonder.
* I like to try outdoor activities ie: hiking (pace of a slug), bungee jump, skydiving, w.w.rafting, horseback riding

What animals (or cartoon characters) do you think the groom and bride each resembles the most?

Pinky (Fonger cuz she's a goof) & The Brain (Artie cuz his evil ideas never work)
